With an interim agreement in place, our historic site, which was closed
on August 14, 2009 is now open & operated by The Friends of Brandywine Battlefield Staff & Volunteers. One state employed maintenance/grounds keeper remains . If you have any questions or concerns, you may leave your message by clicking HERE

The Brandywine Battlefield Historic Site brings to life the largest engagement of the Revolutionary War, through our Education Programs & Living History events! The battle was fought on September 11 1777, between the Continental Army led by General George Washington and the British forces headed by General Sir William Howe.

The Friends of

Brandywine Battlefield

are a group of Staff & Volunteers who work directly with the State Historic Site

in Chadds Ford, PA. On the grounds of the 52 acre Historic Site are a Visitor Center & Museum, Washington's Headquarters, Gideon Gilpin's House and an outstanding Museum shop!
