Volunteer at Brandywine Battlefield Park

Did you know that Brandywine Battlefield runs school programs in the Spring and Fall?

Our school programs are run by our staff but rely principally on our volunteers. The battlefield is looking for volunteers to help with these programs.

Each volunteer will be trained in one or two of the different stations offered to students. These can include stations covering the items carried by soldiers, colonial medicine, camp followers, or musket drills. Some background in history, living history, or education is preferred but not required.

School programs take place between 9:00 and 2:00 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Volunteers can choose which programs they participate in, but we generally look for availability at least one day per week during the season. Volunteers will be required to pass state‑mandated background checks.

Sharing your time helps students experience history in a hands‑on way.
Volunteers play a real part in sparking curiosity and giving young people a chance to connect with the past in a way they’ll remember.
